I don’t think my mother ever had a birthday party but, at the grand old age of eighty, she decided this was sufficient excuse to finally take the leap. Family and friends arrived from near and far and I too flew in from Germany.
The merrymaking was somehow tempered by the fact that we were all awaiting the results of examinations my father had undergone, concerning a recurrent cancer.
In the middle of the celebrations the doctor arrived, and asked to speak to my mother in private. The news was that my father had weeks, not months to live. I stayed for a few days after the party but then had to return home as my wife was expecting our third child.
I knew that this was a final farewell. To recall that moment as I turned my father’s chair to view the garden, his garden, and kissed his balded head as he muttered the words, ”I never thought to see you again”, bring the same tears to my eyes today. On that day, the tears accompanied me all the way down the road to the bus station, on the bus ride to Salisbury, on the train to Heathrow and on the flight
to Stuttgart. We come, we go, and we often leave something good behind. The green, tender shoots can be our children in person or in kind but we are all parts of one very old tree.
Dear Music-Friends,
We are happy to tell you, that we are out there again, on the streets of South of

Hopefully rather sooner than later we will also add some new recordings on our site here.
