Stay here
03:20
|

Stay here
Whoever you are
Wherever you go
Whichever you seek
Whatever you know – stay here
See how the sun
Runs on ist daily path
For thousands and millions
Of days and years
Without the need of great change
See how the sun is born
Daily in the eastern sky
Dies in the evening
Toward the west
Without the need of great change
Whatever you want
Whatever you get
Whichever you seek
Whatever you know – stay here

Giving and taking

|

Giving and Taking
Giving and taking
And coming and going
And changing
Flowing water
River take me
Life is a process
Of changing
Love is a movement
Let go from all
You know

You measure Time
04:14
|
|||
You measure time
One year has gone since you were born
My little one, my pretty one
Daughter mine, you measure time
Like the wind in the forest
Like the grapes on the vine
You measure time
Each new step and each new day
You show me how
You learn your own way
The world is yet all yours to hold
In those tiny hands of yours
You’re not so old to stand alone
So don’t get cross with me
When I tell you to go to sleep
My little one, my pretty one
Daughter mine, you measure time
Live well, live long
Love the truth and be strong
And the ways of the world
They will seem very strange
You will know what to leave
And what to change
Have no fear
For the shaddows in your room
They are only the clouds
Over the face of the moon
The sound that you hear
Is the flowing of the stream
And may this go with you
This night in your dreams

All a long Day
04:24
|
|||
All a long day
The sun was almost rising across the bay
Time to greet another brand-new day
The light was brighter than my head
The world was turning round
And in my hands only salty sand
We pulled ourselves together, found some food to eat
Swilled it down with bottles of warm beer
Cleaned ourselves as best we could
And washed our swollen feet
It didn’t take long to pack up all our gear
I tell my story openly, as best I can
We set off in our sluggish way
Past cafés full of rich
And trudged along the road
Which lead to Nice
The sun was standing higher
And when we found our pitch
Noone was there except for the police
And as the sun sank lower
Our spirit was the same
The music sounded thin, it wasn’t strange
Some beggars and some singers
Were jailed and who’s to blame?
It’s the same the whole world over
Nothing’s changed
It’s not unusual, it’s no different now
Summers on the street
As a musician watching passers-by
And thinking that you’re king
And gaining credit from the passers-by
Disdaining all the beggars
Who have waited till the sun was high
From morning dew to evening queue
When people have long ceased to buy
It’s all a long day
The poor are always with you
Come rain and sun and snow
A thousand reasons, thousand pleadings
Will not make them go
The poor are always with you
Said a wise man long ago
A thousand years, ten thousand faces
Surely come and go
Some are lost and some are ill
And some do not know why
And there but for the grace of god
Go I.

The sun, the river, the snow
The sun, the river, the snow and the plain
The stars in the heaven, again and again
The summer, the winter, the autumn and the spring
Come to me again

Restless
03:48
|
|||
Restless
Don’t you want to hear the river
Laughing in new tones
Breaking the silence
Of ice that was stone?
Banishing winter to where he belongs
In time it is passing
Passing along
Don’t you want to know the pleasure
Of waking to bird-song
The answer to the question
You’ve carried so long?
Banishing winter to where he belongs
In time it is passing
Passing along
You crying babies, restless in your sleep
You lovely ladies who make our young hearts weep
Is it just the magic of spring-time in the air
Or is ist more than this that brings us rich despair?
You yellow flowers, now bursting through the green
And squinting eyes, not accustomed to the sun
Restless and waking with all the pains of birth
Moving and breathing with all the joy of earth
In the springtime

Kisses in the evening sun
Kisses in the evening sun
Now that summer-time has come
Innocence, appraisal along the paths
Behind the bushes and in the parks
Stems of rye in the late summer sun
Along the road and by the lake
In every field
These lovers hearts do ache
Smiles and kisses trying out life
Between work and sleep
In the late evening light
She scents of grass
And he of hay
They’ve come to love
And live their day

Fullness
03:12
|
|||
Fullness
Now that the time of the fullness has come
Drawing from all the past
Bringing the fruit to the tree
And the grapes in the vineyards
Will be pressed to wine
In the fullnes of time
Maturity of time
Now that the fields are brown and bare
Dusty ways and roads scattered with golden straw
And the mem‘ries of the summer
still linger long
the first evening kiss
unforgetable kiss
Eat, drink, be merry
Rejoicing that the time has come
To gather the corn that you sowed in the spring
Eat, drink, be merry
Be grateful to the godly sun
Give of your fruitfullness
And give of your learning
The joy of childhood
Pain of youth
Learning to let go
The growing up
The growing strong
These seasons come and go
Till autumn-time
Eat, drink, be merry
Tomorrow maybe you will die
And if you are thoughtful
Maybe you will ask why
Eat, drink, be merry
Tomorrow maybe you will die
Take the wine and use the time
With barley and the rye

Still, no Change
05:50
|
|||
Still, no change
Still not a movement
Still, no change
Frozen water
Frozen land
Cold is all the world today
Cold is all the world
Cold is all the world today
And hard
Not a sound
No sound
Wide, wide land
Wide, sleeping land
Still not a movement
Still, no change
Still not a movement
Not a sound
As if the earth had
Held her breath
